In the wake of Alassane Ouattara, Henri Konan Bedié and Pascal Affi N'Guessan, Guillaume Soro and Laurent Gbagbo submitted on Monday their candidacy for the Ivorian presidential election on October 31. However, the two heavyweights of Ivorian politics were both struck off the electoral rolls. Explanations.
Within a few hours, they could almost have made their voices heard together. From dawn on Monday, August 31, dozens of fans of former Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo gathered near the headquarters of the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI), in Abidjan, under the watchful eye of the forces of the order deployed for the occasion. And, at midday, it was the support of Guillaume Soro who invaded the surroundings of the institution. The teams of Laurent Gbagbo and his former Prime Minister have thus submitted their candidacy for the presidential election on October 31.
